Moros y Cristianos 2026
Levante Beach and city center, Benidorm
Step back in time to the Middle Ages! Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians) is a powerful dose of history presented as incredible street theater commemorating the battles of the Reconquista period.
During these few days, Benidorm transforms into an arena of spectacular parades and reenactments. It is one of the most magnificent festivals in the region. Here is what you will see with your own eyes:
🛡️ What makes this festival so captivating?
-
⚔️
Spectacular Parades: The grand “Entradas,” where hundreds of participants in richly decorated historical armor, velvets, and silks march proudly through the city’s main streets. -
🏰
Battle on the Beach: An incredible reenactment of the Moorish troops landing on Levante Beach and loud, armed clashes over a symbolic castle built especially for the occasion. -
💥
The Boom and Smell of Gunpowder: An inseparable part of the festival are the “alardos” – volleys from traditional arquebuses. Loud blasts and smoke enveloping the streets create a unique, battle-like atmosphere. -
🎺
Music and Encampments: The city pulses to the rhythm of marches, and the factions set up their “Kabilas” (encampments), where celebrations with music and traditional food last late into the night.
📍 Main Event Arenas
The most important highlights of the program take place on Levante Beach (battle reenactments) and in the streets of the strict city center, with a particular focus on the area around Plaza de la Hispanidad, where the festival castle is usually erected.
